Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In this school, I teach grades two through five, which is about three hundred students. I am the librarian and the students are very eager to read the newest books that come out and experience the latest technology.

We are in a title one school with limited funds.

I have a limited budget which limits what I can order for the library. The students are in of need simple things that will help them participate in what they love to do.

My Project

Last year I inherited a room that did not have a rug. The students sat on the floor for story time and activities. This year, I brought in a foam mat that I had used with my children. The foam mat is too small and some students still have to sit on the floor. The mat looks like a puzzle with the letters of the alphabet that can be taken out. The students are constantly picking at the mat, taking the letters out, and taking apart the mat instead of listening to the story or directions. It is not working and we could really benefit from a nice plush rug that will fit all the students.
