Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am very excited to be a media specialist where I can help develop key critical thinking skills, technology and literacy skills, and core social skills to our students. A makerspace in the library media center is essential for students to be active participants in their learning. It fosters experimentation, invention, creation, and exploration through design thinking and project-based learning. I would like to create a space where not only do reading and language arts classes visit the library to check out books or science and social studies classes conduct research, but a place where students can actively engage in hands-on activities and apply what they’ve learned. It will also provide a space where students can problem-solve, collaborate, and communicate with their peers.
My students are creative, thoughtful, and full of questions!
They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically.
My Project
3D printing promotes student engagement and achievement. They develop the confidence that allows them to pursue challenging courses such as those in STEAM fields. As students explore and grow their imaginations, it cultivates innovation where the student creates their own unique 3D projects that can help train others as well as solve problems.
3D printing provides students with opportunities to experiment with ideas that expand and grows their creativity.
Students learn that it is perfectly acceptable to fail on the first try and then try again in order to improve their project. As students begin to understand that failure is part of the process, they become less afraid to attempt and execute new and different ideas.
