My students need some additional materials for our Maker Space. Three new Maker Space Clubs, as well as students in scheduled library lessons, will be using the items.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school library is a busy, active place. Students come in all day long, individually, in small groups, or with classes for all sorts of information needs and wants. Students read, use the computers, do research, and learn new things.Our elementary has almost 700 students from Pre-K through 4th Grade.
Eighty percent of our student body is of Non-English background, and twelve different languages are spoken by the families here.
Spanish and Arabic are the two most represented languages. We are a multicultural neighborhood school, with all of our students living in apartment buildings within a one and a half mile radius of the school building. Our socio-economic level is high need with 99% of our students qualifying for free lunch. Our students love coming to school and they love to learn!
My Project
Students will use the project idea books for inspiration. Origami paper and duct tape will be used for craft projects, and the Little Bits and Legos will allow more students to build at the same time. Batteries will power all the Little Bits projects. New robots will help students practice coding. Maker space books will help inspire other teachers and me to lead students through the wonderful world of making and creating.
We will be running three new Maker Space Clubs this year - one for 2nd graders, one for 3rd graders, and one for 4th graders - that will meet on Fridays.
Between regularly meeting clubs and individually scheduled library lessons, the Maker Space should be a very busy place this year!
