My Students

My students are in a unique Title 1 school setting, where they are only surrounded by their same aged peers. The school is only occupied by sixth grade students. It is their first experience in a middle school setting and I want it to be the best.

My students come to the library to explore books and have fun with MakerSpace.

It is an outlet where they can just be themselves. I want this space to be warm and inviting to all patrons!

My Project

I am looking to create a learning lounge in my library for my students to use while in this space. The students will be able to use fun, comfortable seating to enjoy a good book or collaborate with a friend. The space will be inviting and promote leisure reading activities. The current space is lacking an area for quiet reading and working collaboratively. Movable saucer chairs will be comfortable for these sixth graders. The configuration of the furniture will allow students to arrange the seating to meet their specific learning needs. The space will also include a rug and decorative pillows.
