Celebrate Black Teachers and Students
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Fourth grade students typically are exploring the idea of self-identity, self-esteem, growing pains and many other aspects of maturing. I will be teaching a class of 21 students with a range of reading abilities. As this is my first year as a teacher, and with this grade level, I have not been able to learn much about my new student just yet.
My hope is that my students are curious and will enjoy exploring different genres of books that appeal to their literary preferences, that are relative to their individual lives and that challenge their perspective.
My Project
These books will be used to help my students find a new found appreciation for literature by introducing new ideals and concepts they can apply in their own lives. I hope to show my students the magic in reading and learning again! My students will be able to use my classroom library to help assist with assignments or to indulge in a genre of choice for pleasure.
Every student deserves a classroom with a well balanced library. My students come from many different backgrounds and cultures. With these differences, many students still have tons of things in common and will experience this through my classroom library collection.
