Library Fun and Games

Help me give my students fun games and activities to play in the library before school and during lunch, so they can learn to socialize better with their friends and behave appropriately in the library.

My Students

I’m the librarian at a middle school with students in grades 7-9. The library has always been a gathering place in the morning and during lunches for students who want to visit with their friends.

One thing the teachers and I have noticed this year is that many of our students are socially immature due to all of the restrictions placed upon them during these Covid years.

In the library I have noticed many students, especially our 7th graders don’t understand what is appropriate library etiquette. They run around, talk loudly, and disrupt others who are reading or working quietly.

I would love to have some super-sized checkers and chess sets and perhaps some other games that would help these students engage appropriately with their friends and help them learn appropriate social behaviors.

My Project

Covid 19 isolated students, and many of them are suffering socially. Many are socially immature and need practice socializing with their peers in an acceptable manner. Games like checkers, cheess, and Uno will engage their minds and help them socialize with their peers.

Unfortunately, some students misbehave in the library, and I think if they had engaging games and activities to do with their friends, their behavior would improve.

I think our students would greatly benefit from these games and activities as it will engage their minds and improve their social skills at the same time.
