There are so many things that make my students so special. We are from a small town and it feels like we are all family. I went to school with many of my students parents. It's funny how I can pick some of them out based on looks alone! My students love to read, and I LOVE to teach reading. I am a 3rd generation teacher so it runs through my blood. We are a Title I school, which means more than 80% of the students here are from low-income families and receive extra support from the school. As a teacher, there are many times when school supplies, craft materials, daily snacks, or pizza parties come out of my own pocket. These children are amazing students and deserve the best education possible!
My Project
My students are eager readers who are picky! In order to encourage my students, I must first provide relatable and interesting reading options. In order to provide the best options, I took a class poll. Our favorite book suggestions are listed and I'm on a mission to provide them to my students! My students enjoy reading. They love to learn and be exposed to interesting topics! They need encouragement and options for relatable texts to read throughout the school year! My students love to read books before they become movies, and they love to compare and contrast books to movies. One obstacle I face is finding funding to provide books for my students to read in my very own classroom. My students need materials to provide the best learning experience possible in Reading/Language Arts.
