The students in my classroom are bright, curious learners. I have been delighted to see them understand and demonstrate advanced social skills concepts such as being caring, compassionate, using forethought and taking ownership of their own decisions.
I truly enjoy watching them as they collaborate and learn from one another in partner work, small groups and in play.
They are like sponges soaking up information and learning at a rapid rate. It is wonderful when we can give them a wide variety of tools and venues to learn from.
All of our learning is exponentially greater because we are together.
My Project
I want to add three kid friendly tablets to my classroom for the kindergarteners to use to practice math and reading skills after their class work is done. Many of these students do not have access to technology at home and these tablets will allow them to practice reading and math skills using two existing platforms that our school has already paid for.
I want to seize that natural fascination in technology and use it to instill reading and math skills in a fun and engaging way for the students.
We will use the reading program after Reader's Workshop and the math program after math work is done.
