Help me give my students resources and tools to create polished videos for their projects. Having green screens, tripods, and charged back up batteries will assist in exposing students to more advanced video editing skills and techniques.
We are a grade 9-12 public charter high school where all cadets are members of the Marine Corps JROTC program. Our objective is to provide cadets with the knowledge, skills, and attributes they will need to thrive in post-secondary education, work, and civic life. We are also part of the New Tech Network. What this means is that every graduate of our school leaves aware, eligible and prepared to pursue post-secondary education or training.
Our cadets come from all over the state and engage in a rigorous project-based learning teaching model in which they gain knowledge and skills by working to investigate and respond to authentic, engaging, and complex questions, problems, or challenges.
Even though we are a military academy, our cadets are encouraged to ask questions, explore all possibilities, and develop leadership skills. We focus on culture over content; wanting our cadets to leave us ready to take on whatever the world throws at them.
My Project
As a project-based learning school, cadets frequently choose to film and edit their own videos and movies for class projects. We recently had a successful project where we were able to get several cameras that have helped students improve their video skills tremendously. While they do an amazing job with what they have, I want to be able to provide them with better equipment that will help them improve the quality of the products. They are learning valuable skills in editing, organization, management, and story development.
Our cadets enjoy creating videos with special effects and editing; having green screens will allow them to take this to the next level.
