My Students
I'm a first-grade teacher at a Title I elementary school in Gwinnett county Georgia. My students are a wonderful mix of different ethnicity and learning styles. Our self contained class consists of special needs students who are performing below grade level. Many of the students in my classroom have limited English proficiency. This means that my classroom has to always differentiate our instruction and approach.
I am very blessed to work with such a wonderful group of children.
It is my goal to give them the richest learning environment so they can achieve and succeed.
My Project
These books will help to build the print-rich classroom that my students need. My students deserve the opportunity to explore many different books that are on their reading level. Many of my students have limited English proficiency skills. Therefore these books will help them in their quest to acquire the English language by exposing them to different topics. Most of the leveled books in the classroom are levels that surpasses my students reading capabilities. We already have empty spaces on our shelves for these books. The cushions will be placed in our reading corner so that students can be comfortable when reading. The totes will be used to place the leveled text in for each student which will help make transitions seamless.

These leveled text and other materials will help my students to become better readers. It will act as a stepping stone in helping them to read on-grade level. I believe that all students can succeed. I want to show my students that they are are capable of doing great things despite their disabilities.
