Learning to read opens up a whole new world for our students. It is especially rewarding and fun when the students can choose their own materials based on reading selections suited to their level!
My class will be a combination of transitional kindergarten and kindergarten students.
They come from diverse cultural backgrounds. We are a Title I school and each child receives free breakfast and lunch. The students will come in curious, full of energy, and ready to learn!
My Project
My students need a leveled reading library, listening center books on cd, and a Hear Myself sound phone center! I would love for the students to begin the school year with a comprehensive classroom reading library. It will be my first year at this school and I want these students to have everything they need at their fingertips. My first goal will be to get the students following procedures and routines; once those are in place, they will be ready to start using centers. My reading center and listening center will be two of the most important centers in the classroom.
This project will make a difference because there will be multiple books to select from each of four different reading levels.
I will assess each child and help them discover which level is just right for them. Each child will progress through the levels at their own pace. Thank you for looking at my project!
