My students need leveled books that correlate with a new phonics program. The books will align and reinforce with the phonic skills that the students are learning.
I teach 23 amazing and ready to learn first grade students! All my students are eager to learn and want to do their best in school. First grade is an important year in these students schooling. I see my students come in not knowing how to read and leaving reading detailed stories. The growth they make is amazing and is so rewarding to watch. Many of the students in my class do not have access to books outside of school. The only reading practice they have is in school and it is important they have many different texts they can use to grow as learners.
The students are from an Urban area in Connecticut and supplies can be hard to come by.
The supplies in the classroom are all they have for their learning. I want to be able to give all students in my classroom the best education that they all deserve. Having the right books and reading supplies is important to all the students. Each student in the classroom will be able to gain knowledge from these supplies.
My Project
The use of leveled readers will help reinforce the phonic skill the students will be learning. The alphabet series kit will give students a chance to use the skill in context. When the students use the skills in context they are able to transfer the skill in other areas of their learning. The phonic readers gives students real examples of how the skill is used in their reading. The books will be used in small group instruction so each student will be able to practice reading the books at their level.
With your donation, the students will gain the confidence they need to become fluent readers!
Being able to read leveled texts instills the love of reading in all students.
