Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have twenty-five first graders who are eager to learn. They love to come to school and the school year requires several supplies that will be used. Our school is a Title I elementary school in the California Bay Area. Supplies are in constant need to be replenished and donations from families are limited.
Children thrive with hands-on learning.
All of our students love to learn and I make it my goal to help them absolutely love coming to school each and every day.
My Project
First Grade builds a student's foundation for reading. It is necessary for classrooms to have leveled books for students to read that are within an appropriate reading range.
Students LOVE to have choice, and these leveled readers would allow students to chose from a vast variety of books.
The leveled readers would be added to our current classroom library. I have noticed that we have a limited amount of readers for levels A-D. We need more options within these levels to help struggling readers make progress in their reading skills. Students are given a rate of levels that they are allowed to choose from. These additions to our classroom library would allow our readers to be successful.
