My students need a variety of leveled books to support their interest in reading. All of my readers have different tastes in books and these books will allow them to explore new books on their levels.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are identified as students with a specific learning disability in reading and math. These students are in a Title 1 school in a high poverty area. Most students are English Language Learners as well. For many of these students learning to read in English is difficult as they only hear English in school. One way our school teaches reading is through immersing the students in reading workshop.
Being able to read fluently is a must for students learning to read and reading workshop gives them the time to practice those skills after learning an important reading skill.
Students learn to read through modeling and practice with books.
My Project
Leveled Readers will provide the students with new stories to read on their independent and instructional reading levels. These books will be used for independent reading during reading workshop. As a school, we are trying to increase students' capacity to read independent and having a variety of books in the classroom will allow them to practice their reading stamina.
There is something special about a new book and these reading sets will open a new world of reading for my students.
My students love to explore new books and this project will allow them to have new books in their hands to spark their love of reading.
