My students are fun, active, and inquisitive first graders. They have lots of questions and want to learn to read. Learning to read can sometimes be frustrating for some of them. I am always looking for new books and new ways to keep them engaged as they are learning.
These students are also just starting to build the foundations for science and math in the future.
They love hands-on activities that help them to learn more about the world around them or help them to understand the math numbers and symbols better.
My Project
We have intervention groups for our students to help them learn and grow as readers. These books will be used in these intervention groups to help students get the reading practice they need at their own level. Having more books at the students' levels will help them to stay more engaged in reading.
Students will also be able to use these books to read independently when they finish their work.
They will be able to pick books at their independent level. Students will be more engaged when they have more of a choice and can read at their level so they don't get frustrated.
