Help me give my students a leveled library to help my struggling readers develop a love of learning during guided reading in small groups and independent reading.
My students are hardworking, dedicated children who love to learn. I have 17 learners who come from diverse backgrounds. Our school is a Title I school and the majority of our students are enrolled in the free lunch program. Some of our students do not have easy access to books. My students are all on different reading levels and have shown interest in reading fiction and nonfiction text. We work in small groups and independent reading to work on our love of reading
My Project
I am a second grade teacher in my first year of teaching. Adding books to our leveled library would give my students the opportunity to borrow books and take them home. In addition, adding new leveled books to our classroom library will give students a chance to read books that are on their level. This enables them to be more engaged while reading, as well as move up through levels and become stronger and more fluent readers. The students would be able to read these during centers, guided reading, and while I am working with other students in small groups.
