I teach kindergarten in a racially diverse Title I school that serves the needs of a broad range of learners. I have many countries and languages represented in my class; half are English learners. My students are curious and eager kindergartners. They ask many questions and engage each other daily.
My class is an engaging and student-centered environment where each child has individualized learning goals.
I work hard to provide a multileveled program for the multiple levels of learners in my room.
My Project
A classroom library in a kinder classroom should be inviting, beautiful, functional and effective. In order for all this to happen, a classroom library must be stocked with many "just right" books for the many levels of readers in one class.
My class needs books that will support the emerging literacy of the earliest readers.
We need books that are predictable, short, engaging and "just right" for kinder friends who are just beginning to read. They need books where they can practice their reading skills on a daily basis. Simple books with engaging text and interesting topics and themes are hard to find. The leveled readers I am asking for are the perfect fit for the youngest readers in my classroom.
