Leveled Books for Beginning Readers

My Students
Our kindergarten and first-grade students are excited to learn! We have been working on reading stamina, meaning, and fluency since the beginning of the school year as well as building our mathematics skills. My students are energetic and respond well to hands-on learning opportunities in the classroom.
These six-year-old students are just embarking on their journey through education. It is my goal to lay the foundation for literacy and math through technology and the sciences, so they will be successful, confident students in the future!
My Project
In our first grade classroom, students are placed in small groups for reading instruction. During this time, first grade students are given leveled readers that are not too hard and not too easy, but just right. Having more books to add to our leveled books library would give me and my students more opportunities to learn and grow together through literacy instruction.
With a variety of leveled books, students will be able to practice learned reading strategies, work on fluency, develop comprehension skills, and most importantly become confident readers.
Many of my students do not have an extensive home library collection. With these books, students will be able to use these books daily in the classroom and take them home to read them for extended practice.
