My Students

I teach to approximately between 22 and 25 second graders each year. Second graders are working to stretch their literacy, math, and learning skills. I teach in a small town in eastern Iowa along the Mississippi river. Small town living is wonderful here!

We have a very progressive school with a dedicated staff!

Our teachers truly have the students' best interests in mind and work tirelessly to provide a wonderful learning space where all feel connected and inspired to thrive into the best version of their selves.

My Project

Creating lifelong learners is part of every educator's job. Part of becoming a lifelong learner is developing early foundational skills that will help a child progress to higher levels of learning and understanding. Becoming a reader is a highly individualized process.

There are many requirements to successfully learning to read.

Having a good selection of leveled books helps beginning readers to have a just-right for them selection to pick and read from. These books will help me broaden the choices available to my students to keep them invested and engaged in their learning.
