This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I work in a Title I school. My students come from different ethnic groups. Many of them are not reading on grade level, but they do have a passions and a zest for reading. I would love to continue to foster that desire by adding the classroom library. Books don’t go out of style or get old. They do become worn. There are some titles that should be replaced in our classroom library. We would love any donations received. My students always rise to the expectations that I set before them. Reading is the highest goal on our school improvement list.
My Project
I want my students to have options when it comes to selecting books from the classroom library. Students will have an opportunity to check out books that they don’t see at home. I want my students to see books everywhere in our classroom. They will be able to read new and interesting books continuously. Reading is a top priority in my school. I have made it a personal passion of mine to help foster and continue to develop a deep love of reading. I want to continue to create a library that is attractive and inviting to students. I want our library to be an overwhelmingly print rich environment.
