Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are all special and unique in their own way. They are all from different backgrounds and are entering Kindergarten at different levels. They work hard to achieve their goals throughout the day. My students enjoy working in small groups and collaborating with each other.
My students make me smile and laugh every day.
I could not imagine doing anything else in this world. I am blessed and thankful to have the opportunity to be apart of their " first memories" within a school setting.
My Project
I am submitting this project in the hopes that my students will be able to acquire a library full of leveled guided reading texts. These are sets of books that provide them a chance to feel successful with reading while learning specific reading skills to help them move to the next level.
For some, reading comes easily and they are mastering all kinds of books.
For others, they need more time learning reading strategies. Leveled readers will provide every one of my students the tools they need to "level up" in their reading!
During guided reading instruction, students work with books that are challenging them in many ways. New strategies can be taught, old strategies can be put into practice, and better readers can be the result of a good selection of books! I firmly believe that attaining a leveled guided reading library for my classroom will help all of my students reach their reading goals and help them love reading!
