My students need 3 Breakout EDU kits to have a break from their workbooks and computer screens. With these kits, I can turn my classroom into an academically-focused escape room and facilitate games where players use teamwork and critical thinking.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is a wonderful place to learn and grow. We are a STEM-focused public charter school in one of the most economically challenged areas of Houston, Texas. We are a Title I school, and over 80% of our students receive free or reduced price lunch with all students receiving free breakfast.
My students face many obstacles daily.
Many of our families have to constantly worry about where their next meal will come from and how to pay their rent. In addition to their daily stress, many of our students were affected by Hurricane Harvey and lost what little they had. With such worries, learning can sometimes take a backseat to life's necessities. That's why the time my students spend with me and what I am able to provide is so very important for their growth! I want to ensure that my students receive the same opportunities as students in other more affluent schools receive.
My Project
My students have had to overcome many challenges this year. Hurricane Harvey has had a huge impact on my their daily lives. With the shortened school year, they have had to complete their curriculum at a much faster pace. It's time for something that isn't in a workbook or on a computer screen. I am looking for exciting, academically challenging ways for my students to enjoy their time in our challenge lab while still focusing on their academics.
With these three Breakout EDU kits, I can turn our classroom into an academically focused escape room and facilitate games where players use teamwork and critical thinking to solve a series of challenging puzzles in order to open the locked box.
I can't think of anything that would be more fun or challenging for my students, but I need help acquiring the kits for them.
