We are a suburban high school with rural roots. Our students are ethnically, culturally and socioeconomically diverse. As a large school, we have the advantage of being able to offer students a variety of courses, extracurricular activities, and supports.
Our challenge is to connect all of our students in a meaningful way to our school community, so they can find their passions in life.
We strive to meet this challenge by creating small communities within the school, so that all students can find their place on campus, and can explore and expand their interests in a safe environment.
My Project
My AVID students have been on a journey towards college since middle school. We would like to recognize them at graduation with stoles, and this Cricut machine and iron-on vinyl will help us to make them in a cost-effective way.
As many of the students will be first-generation college students, this is particularly significant.
The cutter will allow us to make iron-on letters and icons for graduation stoles for AVID seniors for years/decades to come. In addition to being utilized for graduation stoles, it will also be used to create college displays throughout the school to further our mission of supporting a college-going culture schoolwide.
