Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I teach kindergarten in title I Philadelphia public school and currently have 30 students in my classroom. These excited young learners are filled with endless energy and are always ready to learn and discover new things. Several of my students are having difficulty mastering basic foundation skills in both literacy and math. Our classroom would greatly benefit from receiving tablets so that I can utilize technology to provide them with interactive sites that offer fun and engaging ways to learn letters, numbers and letter sounds. In addition, these tables will be used for digital books that can be read to my students or that they can read to themselves.

My Project

Technology would be a great asset to our classroom. Currently I have 6 mac books, however 2 of them do not work. Allowing my students to use educational sites to learn their letter sounds and numbers would be a great asset to our classroom. My students are excited about learning new things. While I would love to work with every student each day that is virtually impossible. Tablets will compliment my classroom instruction and support the learners who are waiting for small group instruction. In addition, my students will have access to digital books which will allow them to read books and have books read to them.
