My Students

I teach at a gem of a school in a small community that serves our immediate area as well as a large portion of our local indigenous nation. My students are participating in a full day transitional kindergarten program to prepare them for kindergarten next year.

My students are energetic, curious, and resilient learners.

Many of them began the year hoping for lunchboxes, backpacks, and the big yellow school bus, and instead of attending distance learning lessons with disappointment, they still attend school with excitement and vigor. They inspire me every day to learn as we grow together as a class.

They are incredibly supportive of one another, and our small community is supportive of them. All of the work we do in our school is possible because of the community we serve.

My Project

These workbooks are not only engaging on their own: encouraging children to color and practice letter writing and recognition, but they also come with an interactive app in which students can scan pictures right off of the page and learn more about the animals they've seen. This app beautifully blends literacy and science standards in such an engaging way for kids. It also has an option for kids to practice letter tracing within the app with student color options from home. Students will be able to use these while we're distance learning and in person.
