My students need a classroom set of letter tiles to enhance their learning as they sound out words and build new words. These letter tiles will help them form a more concrete understanding of reading concepts.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are always eager to learn! They love to use a variety of materials to make that learning happen. They attend school in a high needs area where funds are limited. Many of the students also come from single parent homes or broken homes.
This year I will be teaching students who struggle with reading and language concepts.
My goal is to reach them based on their learning styles. There are so many of my students who learn based on hands-on activities.
My Project
In my classroom, I believe learning should but fun and hands-on. I'm requesting a classroom set of letter tiles for my students, plus a few more individual sets as my class exceeds 20 students each year. The letter tiles will be used on a daily basis as whole group instruction, and will be used during individual workstation time in our classroom.
These letter tiles will give my students the hands-on experience they need to be successful in sounding out words and building new words.
The tiles will help struggling readers to string together words and make full sentences. These are key components that enable students to become better readers as they succeed in their academic career.
