This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
As a teacher, I want to provide a fun, safe, caring, and engaging environment for all my students. Some come from single-parent homes and are on the free or reduced-price lunch program. I strive to provide a positive and exciting experience that most of my students may never have a chance to experience at home.
Each student enters into my classroom filled with excitement and anticipation ready to learn something new.
Our school is a small diversified public school that has a unique model. It is designed to provide a continuous and nurturing educational experience in a small school environment. Located on one campus, the school currently enroll kindergarten through grade 8.
My Project
All of my students want to learn how to read. The students need items that will provide hands-on opportunity to teach how to take a word apart and put it back together using each sound in the word. This will help my students learn foundational reading skills that will develop throughout the school year.
In class the touch and read phonics word match will give each student the experience needed to learn how to read.
The best way to increase reading ability is to meet each students' at their level. My students already have shown an interest in letter sounds. The materials will only enrich their reading experiences.
