it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students
My kindergarteners will be starting school with high hopes and dreams. My students live in a community that continues to be challenged with economic poverty, homelessness, health concerns, and low wages. Many of the students are attending the same school where their parents were also students.
These curious young learners attend a community school that serves grades PreK to 5th.
There is a large population of students with disabilities and special needs as well as students new to the English language. A very large majority of the students receive free lunch. The students learn best through hands-on experiences that keep them engaged and promote discussion.
My Project
Good penmanship is still important when it comes to being able to communicate in writing. The manuscript handwriting books will help my beginning writers with a place to do the much needed daily practice of letter writing. The manuscript handwriting books will provide practice during independent work time as well as for homework. The books will assist students with forming the letters of the alphabet correctly. In addition students will get in the habit of carefully writing in order to produce writing products that are both neat and clearly understood. Students will take pride in seeing themselves as young writers.
