Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Kindergarten students come from a wonderful community where school is the best part of their day. We are a Title 1 school that welcomes five nationalities in a rural school setting. We have students from many different backgrounds which includes a majority of ELL students.
We are a community within our classroom as well!
My students learn best when they can get their hands on their learning. We support each other with partner center activities where we cooperate to learn everyday.
My Project
We spend a large part of the first semester introducing and reinforcing letter names, sounds, and words in Kindergarten. My students need to know how individual letters look and feel in order to form their foundation for reading. The magnetic letters will assist them as we use these letters to build sight words as the year progresses.
