My Kindergarten students come to school with a wide variety of social and emotional readiness. For many children it is their first time being in a classroom setting, having basic supplies available for them is a must. Using paper and pencil is effective but can be frustrating for young children. My students love dry erase boards and markers when practicing letter and number formation. The ease of erasing makes it the perfect way for children to practice without the hassle of erasing paper.
My Project
Basic letter and number formation is one of the biggest and most time consuming objectives in our kindergarten class. For many students it’s their first time to hold a pencil. Dry erase boards and markers are a wonderful way to help students tackle this objective. The ease of erasing mistakes and the size of the markers are a perfect fit for kindergarten students. These boards would be used everyday during our ELAR and Math blocks.
Dry erase boards and markers are a great way to do a quick check of the student’s understanding.
Once students form a letter or number, a quick flip of the board can be an easy redirection or thumbs up.
