Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
During their year in kindergarten, my students will go from learning that individual letters make sounds, that groups of letters make words and that words make sentences. It is an amazing year of growth. This is the year that magic happens and they start to write words and sentences of their own.
We are a kindergarten, dual language classroom in a public school in Connecticut.
Our students are learning English and Spanish in our program. They are learning to read and write in both languages. Our students are motivated and excited to learn two languages! Many of my students receive free and reduced lunch.
My Project
My students are budding readers and writers. They are young authors whose imaginations take them to places that only writers can take us. They learn to read and write words and sentences. They love to write stories by the end of the year. We spend a lot of time publishing our stories throughout the year. We have access to computers in our classroom which the students are allowed to use for publishing their creations. We do not, however, have ink for our printer to allow them to print their words and stories. We would love to have HP black ink cartridges for our classroom printer to allow students to print their projects and publish so they may share with others outside the classroom and be able to take their creations with them when they leave and move on to the next grade.
Student will be able to have a hands on finished product of their writing.
This will allow for the students to be able to share their writing and display it with pride at school and at home.
