My students need flexible seating to help them focus during the school day as well as empowering them to create their own learning environment that is conducive to their various learning styles.
This project expired on August 3, 2018.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
My students come from various backgrounds and households. The entire school receives free or reduced-price lunch and is considered a Title I school by state standards. Currently, I teach students who receive ESOL services. These students speak various languages from across the country.
For most of the students I teach every day, the ideal household is not a reality for them.
No matter what the background, students come in each day with a smile on their faces eager to learn whatever we have in store for the day. My students want to learn which is most important for me.
Students who are more comfortable in school tend to focus more during the learning process. It also gives students an opportunity to take ownership of their own learning environment.
I want my classroom environment to be conducive to open collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking.
Sitting at a desk all day makes this difficult. With flexible seating, students will be able to choose their learning environment daily.
Many flexible seating options stimulate students’ sense of touch, which helps children focus and process information especially for students with ADD, ADHD and other diagnoses. Wobble chairs and balance balls will give them that desired stimulation.
