My Students

Our classroom is made up of nine hardworking, bright, effervescent and remarkable students. The classroom is a substantially separate room in a Title I school, in which each student has an autism diagnosis.

Each student brings something special to the classroom.

They all have a range of different abilities. Our main goal in our room is to promote independence in many areas including, self-care skills, self-regulation, social skills, academics, gross motor skill, fine motor and much more throughout the year.

My Project

In the classroom, I have begun incorporating STEM activities once a week, as a class. This year I want to incorporate STEM more within the room and need materials to bring it alive.

STEM allows us to get together and work as a team to bring life to activities!

The Sink or Float activity will allow students to see which items will sink or float and each student will be able to take a turn placing an item in the water. The Magnet kit will allow students to understand what may or may not be magnetic. The STEM journal will allow us to share our findings with other classrooms and parents.
