My Students
"We are a team!" "We are a family!" "We are problem solvers!" These are a few reminders that I tell my students each and every day. As a teacher, I believe it is my job to help prepare my students for their future! I teach fourth grade at a small urban school. Being a teacher in a low-income school district has been so rewarding, but nevertheless, it has its challenges. Sadly, our funding has been drastically cut, so it is up to the teachers to purchase a lot of the "extra" things and materials to make our school day run smoother.
My students are creative and love learning!
I don't want the financial hardship to interfere with my students' ability to learn, so I always try my best to provide my students with the supplies they need to learn and succeed.
My Project
Math matters! Everyday in math class, my students are involved in problem-solving activities to help them learn. Talking about math problems is super important for mathematical development. Studies have shown that talking about math helps students develop deeper mathematical understanding.
We need this Daily Math Fluency Kit to help my students continue to develop their mathematical knowledge!
This kit includes 180 days of instruction that is designed to develop numeracy and the ability to use mathematical relationships to reason with numbers and numerical concepts. This instruction will help my students master fluency strategies using visual models and manipulatives. It will help create time for students to communicate through math talks which is crucial for student understanding. It will also help allow my students to progress in their thinking through communication. These student dialogue
