This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our students need experience with animal habitats. They need the opportunity to live in a micro world.
My students are excited about science.
They like to learn about animals and love to see how animals live differently from people. Building habitats will give my students a chance to see life through the animal's point of view. Allowing the students to get close to the animals will help them build an ecological empathy.
My Project
My students need aquariums and containers to build habitats. With these resources, my students will get to see life science firsthand. They will be able to experience the world of a cockroach, centipede, and other insects. Students will learn what it takes to survive in the animal's world. Student's can record data and make connections to their own lives.
My project is important because my students need to experience science by seeing the world from different points of view.
They will develop a relationship with the natural world that they can revisit year round.
