My Students

Do you remember being picked on in school? Today, the bullying does not end when the school bell rings. Instead, social media allows bullies access to their victims even while they are in the safety of their own homes. The only way to make a difference is empathy through education.

The students I teach live in an urban neighborhood, where they attend their zoned school.

These students come to school with a positive attitude toward learning and assisted us in achieving the nurturing family environment that exists at our school. Our students have worked towards ending bullying in our school in a number of ways. Our theater group performed a production of "Bang! Bang! You're Dead" for the school which depicts a student's violent reaction to bullying. In addition, students at our school have started a Peace Club to raise awareness for bullying.

My Project

Our school has recently endured a tragic loss. Although our administration and staff have taken steps to address issues that our children are dealing with; the scars have still not healed. In our school, as in many schools, students have a difficult time dealing with their peers in a positive way. Perhaps if bullies understood the ramifications of their actions they would not treat others as badly.

Hopefully, if 80 of our students are able to view "Bully", they would be able to initiate a change within our school.

The students we have chosen to attend are exemplary.
