I am a preschool teacher with a classroom of 4 and 5 year old students. These students come from low-income families that face many challenges on a daily basis. I am looking to provide a variety of ways to give them quality learning experiences while preparing them for Kindergarten.
My students are imaginative, playful and have a desire to learn and create.
While they all receive free breakfast, lunch and a snack, this only equips their bodies to be able to learn. Through positive attention and hands-on learning, my students explore and learn about a variety of topics.
Many materials are not an option at home, so we do our best to provide what we can for them while they are at school. We want to make learning fun and set them up for a successful future and continue their love of learning.
My Project
Letting children explore art in various forms allows for more creative exploration. When the students have different materials it gives them more opportunities to take risks.
Using scissors, tape, glue, staplers and hole punchers allows my students to take risks and fix their mistakes.
These materials also help build their fine motor skills, problem solving skills, social skills, communication abilities and more. These materials also lend their hand to later learning opportunities and skills such as reading, writing and mathematics.
I firmly believe that giving children the ability to express themselves in a safe way also teaches them about themselves.
