Help me give my students a more comfortable classroom by having more flexible seating. Give the students the chance to stand during class and still be able to complete their work with standing desks.
I am pleased to work with a diverse group of high school students. I work in a school with about 1200 students. Approximately 40% of our population receive free and reduced meals. I teach math to 10th and 11th grade academic and accelerated students.
Keeping students focused and making good choices is always on my mind.
I have several students who find it challenging to stay focused while sitting in a desk for 85 minutes. I would as well. I am also encouraging them to work together in class.
My Project
I would like to give my students the chance to stand up during class and still have a desk to work at. Having a class for 85 minutes is a long time to be in one seat. I would also like them to be able to work together. By using clipboards and stools, they can find a different spot in the classroom to work with a group of students.
Changing the seating and working area will help the students to focus on learning more.
I can see some students working collaboratively in a group with stools and clipboards while other students may be working together (or independently) at the standing desks.
