My students come from all different backgrounds and environments. Some are from two-parent homes, single-family, foster homes, and some are being raised by grandparents. A positive environment is a must in school. Every day I try to make sure that each child is greeted with a smile and a good morning because that can totally make a child's day. The students within my class have entered their school career during a pandemic and are lacking the social skills for social interactions.
My students are always ready to start learning and see what excitement the day is going to bring.
Students at the age of five and six, are eager to learn and gain as much information as possible. The extent of the learning experiences I provide for a group of students during challenging times cannot be truly quantified.
My Project
The "Let's Start to Socialize" grant will help my students socialize more with one another. They will move beyond parallel play. It will allow my students to use materials in stations to carry on conversations with one another. They will be able to take their imaginations to another level, while also strengthening their fine motor skills with manipulatives. This grant will allow the students to have hands-on materials to explore the various stations (or centers) within my classroom. They will be able to expand their vocabulary and communication skills while playing.
These materials include Mix Match Magnetic Wild Animals, Under-The-Sea Mermaid Palace, Royal Kingdom Adventure Castle, and Kid-Safe Appliances- the Complete Set.
The students will use the materials in whole group, station time, and independently throughout the day. It will open doors for students communicate with one another. It will allow them to have two way conversations while also building friendships among our classroom community!
