Help me give my students snacks for home during the pandemic and 100 percent virtual learning. I see many children are hungry and I would like to provide snack time.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I love my students. I've been teaching since 1992 &I love my job! We are an inner-city Trenton School. Many families struggle to give their children all they need. One hundred percent get free lunch. Our school does food secure bags once a week but many students are eager for snacks to get them through the day remotely. We used to have shared snack and social time in school, I would love to do that with the students remotely. This is good for social and emotional needs too.
My Project
Many of my students can not focus at school because they are hungry. We have a virtual "tool box" of our school academic supplies. I would like to provide them with a personal virtual "tool box" of snacks. This way we could interact daily and if a student is hungry I could also suggest a snack I have provided them. This will help the students focus and the families with food insecurities struggle less. I know my families would be very appreciative of this help during these difficult times. We are a food insecure district.
