My Students
We are a high poverty school in a rural town, and my third grade class will consist of about twenty 8 and 9 year-olds. This is my first year teaching this grade level, and I am excited to get to know this new class.
Sitting one-on-one next to a student helps me gain a deeper understanding of his/her needs and abilities.
We recently acquired a new table thanks to many generous donations, and I now need a chair to work alongside my students. My students also need portable storage bins for their book choices, so they can bring their materials to our new table.
My Project
I'm so excited about our newly funded kidney table for reading groups. I can't wait for my students to bring their book choices to this table and work with me for small group instruction.
Since we are a new addition to our already established third grade team, we do not have many resources or furniture.
This rolling teacher chair and student book boxes will make our reading groups organized and mobile, and they will improve the productivity of our learning. Creating a comfortable environment where learning can take place anywhere is the atmosphere I'd like to establish in my new classroom.
