This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, my main goal is to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
My students are creative, clever and very spontaneous.
They like to move, they love to make art and love lots of positive attention. From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom, I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me. I may not be able to control their home lives, however, I can certainly control their experience during the school day. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hoping to inspire even our earliest learners to continue on a path of academic excellence.
My students are me 20 years ago. They are growing and learning in the same small, tight-knit, school community that inspired me to be a teacher. They are dreamers, thinkers, talkers, and questioners. I want to be the best for them!
My Project
In our art classroom, I like to make sure my students have everything they need to be successful and have a world-class education. With your help, our classroom will look amazing this year and we will have all the art materials we need to need to explore and create our artwork this year. With our budget being what it is for the art program, I rely on your help and donations for our supplies. I have always been so impressed with how well our community and partners have helped our program in the past. I know this year won't be any different.
My students need paper, crayons, bulletin board materials, broom with dustpan and more for our classroom to be successful this year.
