Help me give my students materials, supplies, and games to help them to develop social skills as well as overcome sensory challenges they are faced with daily.
I am the Autism Teacher for seven schools in my county. All of my students fall within different ranges of the autism spectrum umbrella. My students are unique and each have their own special qualities that aren’t always obvious to those around them! I help them become the best that they can be. The talents my students have far surpasses any talent I could ever achieve. They make me smile and teach me new things every single day! My students help me to see the world in different ways and gives simple everyday tasks a whole new outlook.
My Project
As I travel from school to school working with my students who are diagnosed with Autism, I will use these supplies to help build confidence and learn to play with others in social settings rather than alongside others. My students will learn to find ways to attend lunchtime and playtime with their peers through the use of noise cancelling headphones. Many of my students struggle with handwriting and will become overwhelmed with paper pencil tasks. The Handwriting Without Tears program will help ease the anxiety associated with the difficulties of handwriting and correct letter formations as well as letter sounds.
