My Students
My 5th graders are more than excited to learn each day! They are an energetic group of diverse learners who are looking for ways to use their creative minds to go the extra mile in the classroom. They want to achieve more than the average student and they do this by building each other up to show their support for all.
These self motivated children challenge themselves and each other with positive and kind words each and everyday.
My students come a from a close knit town where community support is number one. I try to instill the value of group support into these children to build a strong classroom community for them. I am proud to say that my students are not afraid to take academic risks and they feel safe together. Just like a family.
My Project
I am looking to implement flexible seating in my 5th grade classroom. The bean bag chairs and video rockers are fantastic pieces to start with this initiative. Since I teach 5th grade, I feel these options are appropriate for motivation and academic support.
My students work best when they have the option to move.
During reading time, they will be able to utilize these chairs , which will allow the students to read more comfortably and focus more. When working independently, students will have the option to use these chairs to help regain focus and concentrate on the task at hand.
