Our students live in a rural, remote community in Oregon. I love teaching second grade and absolutely LOVE the curious minds my students possess! They are curious, enthusiastic to learn, creative and kind! They enjoy reading, writing, dancing, singing and making up new cheers to celebrate the many successes in our classroom! They love sharing what they have learned and created with their classmates!
My Project
We have had a challenging and isolated last two years of school with students missing the last year and a half in a normal classroom setting. Students are struggling being back in the classroom. Students completed part of their kindergarten year before Covid-19 hit. They didn't have a chance to attend regular school last year while in first grade. We are re-learning social and appropriate behavior in a regular classroom setting.
Having new and exciting rewards such as pop-its and squishies, would be great motivation to encourage positive choices, kindness, and working together as a community to help one another.
