My Students

"We are Motivated! We are Dedicated! We have Pride! We are Warriors!" This is our band's motto and we say it at the end of every rehearsal. I teach a great group of young adults grades 8-12 and live that mantra every day.

They are proud of what they do and they are proud of who they represent: the school and each other, and they do it in a community that has fewer advantages than most.

We are as active as we can be, given our circumstances, to provide our students opportunities they can't find in any other activity. We travel to competitions and festivals and perform for our community for many local events.

My Project

Woodwind players need reeds to be able to make a sound on their instrument. Most of our students come from either low socio-economic backgrounds and can not afford to purchase reeds on their own, or they have no means of getting to a music store; we recently lost our local music supply store.

With your help, I will be able to supply quality materials for students to play and continue to learn and develop their musical skills.

As students grow, the strength of the reed may need to change to allow the student to continue creating the best possible sound. Different strength reeds allow students at different levels to continue progressing and maturing as musicians.
