This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I have been an educator for over 20 years in various roles. This is my first-time teaching 3rd grade, and I am limited on supplies for the age group. I want to build a cozy classroom library so my kids have an area where they can relax, read, and do other schoolwork if needed. The books will help me build the library but also allow the students to check out and take home to read if they would like to. All my kids are eager to increase their reading skills and the books will not only help for the rest of the school year but for the following years to come for future students. The cart will help me store the leveled readers separate from the rest of the books, allowing my students easy access to the appropriate book for them. They take a leveled reader home to practice and summarize during the week and switch out when they are ready. Reading for enjoyment and reading their leveled books will increase their skills which I want to be able to provide for them.
