I am honored to say I teach 44 amazing students to become life-long learners. We not only focus on the academics, but our school also emphasizes teaching the whole child by teaching social skills and fostering social emotional growth.
My future leaders of America are diverse in their backgrounds and needs within the educational setting.
These learners deserve a literacy rich classroom that reflects their culture and heritage. Providing plenty of rich, culturally diverse reading material will do just that.
Our population tends to be transient with students moving frequently from school to school. 70% of these kiddos are also socioeconomically disadvantaged, and it is my intent to provide them with a safe, engaging classroom full of choices.
My Project
I've included a wide range of literature to reflect the culture and heritage of the students in my classroom. These books are not only great to teach writing lessons, but they promote social emotional growth in a kid friendly format.

This is my first year at a new school, and the students' heritage and culture are very different from my previous school. It is extremely important to provide my students with resources that make them feel like they are valued and important in my classroom. These book will show them just that - they are loved, valued, and part of the classroom community.
