My Students
My students are extra special and deserve the very best in educational practices. Some of my students are on the autism spectrum and some students have multiple disabilities. They receive different types of interventions and related services to meet their daily needs. They all have different learning styles and different interests. I expose my students to many learning materials to spark their interest and creativity.
Many of my students receive prompts to assist them in playing with materials appropriately.
Prompts are gradually faded to allow them to use materials independently. Students enjoy playing with puzzles and colorful connecting toys which help them to develop fine motor skills.
My Project
These new materials will be of great help to my students who have been learning from home since March of this year. The storybook set of familiar episodes will be effective in keeping them engaged for storytime sessions during virtual instruction. Pictures are simple and relevant to students and their environment. Students will be able to make choices on their favorite books to read.
My students with special needs enjoy listening to stories multiple times until they can recall and repeat many sections of the story.
Conversely, they enjoy listening to stories and looking at the pictures. The magnetic board with numbers and letters is a great way to get my young students involved with learning the academics. Students will be able to identify, and name numbers and upper and lower case letters of the alphabet. The weather and calendar chart combo is needed for morning meetings and greetings which will foster a daily routine for my students. Teacher's tote bag will be useful to store all of my readiness material nearby in virtual instruction. Baskets will be used to store materials for students.
