My students need four Chromebooks to use during reading and math class.

I currently have 50 students in my first grade classes. My students are SPED and English Language Learners students and have a love for technology, reading, math and science. They are very excited about learning and I want to make the class interactive. Due to time, we are limited. My students don't have access to much technology or additional resources at home. Many of our students are foster care students and they don't have any technology. The students in my classroom are a diverse group of children who come from intricate family backgrounds. I teach at a low-income school and I in a classroom full of eager learners who are enthusiastic about coming to school every day!
Reading and math are the two most important subjects in which students gain knowledge and skills by working for an extended period of time to investigate and respond to an authentic, engaging, and complex question, problem, or challenge.
My students need to read and think on a higher grade level so they need the laptops to help with their comprehension.
They also need to practice their math fluency so that they are able to multiply quicker. My students have a love for reading and math, but at the moment we only have three computers to use for the entire class. These resources would help give my students individualized attention in math and reading. They will use the computers in reading to read more books. They will use the resources during math to help with their multiplication fluency. The multiplication fluency has been a challenge for them after Hurricane Irma. We loss all of our technology in our class and we are trying to rebuild. Not only did we lose our resources after Irma. We have recently received students from Puerto Rico. They have been dispplaced after Hurricane Maria.
My students share a keen interest for many different things that are restricted due to the lack of technology. These Chromebooks will allow them to be exposed to more complex text, and in turn, become more fluent in reading and math.
